Evening call out - tripping socket in Essex.
For this call out we identified and replaced a tripping upstairs socket. The cause? Decorator screwed back flat plate design socket without dressing cables appropriately causing basic insulation on live conductor to be damaged therefore shorting to earthed back box. The fix? We changed the socket to a standard white plastic socket (the socket was located behind bed anyway) allowing more space for cables to be dressed in to avoid any future tripping issues, customer was informed that if the same socket design was to be used ideally a deeper back box would need to be installed.
